VP Pick Made, Democrats Freak Out

Daily Report April 11,2024

As the November election draws near, presidential candidates are forming alliances and making moves to prop support within their bases. Independent presidential candidate Professor Cornel West bolstered his alliance on Wednesday when he announced his running mate.

West, in an interview on The Tavis Smiley Show, revealed Dr. Melina Abdullah as his running mate for the 2024 November election.

“At this historic and pivotal moment, it is my profound honor to stand alongside my dear sister, Dr. Melina Abdullah, a fierce and tireless advocate for truth, justice, and transformative change,” West said. “Sister Melina’s incredible courage, keen intellect, and deep vision have greatly served the cause of liberation in education, worker rights, and both racial and gender justice. Her unique analysis and witness helps us confront our crumbling era of empire, white supremacy, and patriarchy. I look forward to working with her as we strengthen our commitment in our campaign for truth, justice and love!”

According to Breitbart News, Abdullah is a professor and the former chairwoman of Pan-African Studies at California State University in Los Angeles. Abdullah is also one of the co-founders of the Los Angeles chapter of Black Lives Matter (BLM) and a Director of the Black Lives Matter grassroots.

Abdullah —who has never held a public office before— accepted West’s offer, adding that she was happy “deeply honored and humbled” to be his running mate.

“This campaign offers a real vision for the world that stands in opposition to oppressive forces and holds fast to the universal principles of truth, justice, and love,” Abdullah said.

West announcement means former President Donald Trump is the only 2024 White House hopeful yet to pick his running mate.

West and fellow independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are causing panic within the Democrat party. Democrats are worried that both candidates will draw votes from President Joe Biden in November.

Matthew Corridoni, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee (DNC), told The New York Times that any vote for West and Kennedy is a vote for Trump.

“Despite Cornel West announcing a running mate, our view remains the same: Only two candidates have a path to 270 electoral votes, President Biden and Donald Trump,” Corridon said in an email. “The stakes are high and we know this is going to be a close election — that’s why a vote for any third-party candidate is a vote for Donald Trump.”
