During Friday’s episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” Bill Maher addressed growing public distrust in institutions, attributing it to their adoption of extreme leftist ideologies that contradict evident realities.
YOU RARELY SEE THIS FROM BILL MAHER
Bill Maher doesn't often get angry with his guests, but it happened tonight with Neil deGrasse Tyson, on the subject of transgender athletes.

The discussion intensified when author Andrew Sullivan interjected during Maher’s reference to his earlier conversation with astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, pointing out Tyson’s reluctance to tackle the core issue.
Maher expressed frustration, stating, “I can’t get a scientist to say that Scientific American, the magazine — as so many institutions — have been ideologically captured by this very, very far-left wing, to the point where they are denying stuff that is just obvious to the naked eye.”
Sullivan elaborated on the problem, saying, “And people aren’t stupid, they see them making these statements and they see Democrats refusing and liberals refusing to disown them. Why? What is Neil afraid of? I know what he’s afraid of, he’s afraid of some massive social media mob coming at him, calling him a sexist, bigot, and all the rest. Well, we have to get over that.”

The conversation concluded with Maher observing that this behavior leads people to question institutional credibility entirely, a sentiment with which Sullivan concurred.
