Democrat mega donor and convicted cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried received a 25-year prison sentence on Tuesday after he stole millions from investors.
In November, a jury convicted Bankman-Fried on seven counts of fraud and conspiracy-related charges. Bankman-Fried was CEO and founder of FTX, a cryptocurrency firm, and was convicted of stealing $8 billion from investors.

According to a court filing in February, the New York probation department recommended a sentence of 100 years in prison.
Sam Bankman-Fried stole over $8 billion in customer money, and I emphasize stole because it was not a liquidity crisis, or an active mismanagement, or poor oversight from the top. It was not a bloodless financial loss on paper,” prosecutor Nicolas Roos said in court.

Bankman-Fried’s lawyer, however, pleaded for a lighter sentence of 60-78 months in prison. The convicted fraudster’s lawyer cited Bankman-Fried’s philanthropic efforts and his diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as reasons why their client should get a lighter sentence.
“Sam is uniquely vulnerable in a prison population. Individuals with ASD are often at considerably greater risk of physical harm and extortion in prison than other inmates,” his lawyer wrote.
His lawyers claimed the prosecutor’s demand for a 100-year sentencing was “grotesque” and “barbaric.”
Just before he was sentenced, Bankman-Fried apologized for his crime, stating that he wished he had done things differently.
“A lot of people feel really let down, and they were very let down, and I am sorry about that,” Bankman-Fried said at his sentencing hearing Thursday. “I am sorry about what happened at every stage. And there are things I should’ve done and things I shouldn’t have.”

Bankman-Fried had spent a huge part of the stolen funds on donations to the Democrats. According to Breitbart News, Bankman-Fried sought to outpace billionaire George Soros as the Democrat party’s largest donor.
"He was one of the biggest contributors to DEMOCRATIC candidates and causes ahead of the 2022 U.S. midterm elections.
But prosecutors say the responsible image he cultivated concealed his years-long EMBEZZLEMENT of customer funds."

“He reportedly spent $100 million in stolen customer funds to donate mostly to Democrats and was the second largest donor to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign,” Breitbart News wrote.
