Biden’s 2019 Impeachment Comments Lays Groundwork For Own Impeachment

Daily Report May 10,2024

President Joe Biden’s words have come back to bite him after he appeared to have laid the groundwork for his own impeachment before he became president.

President Joe Biden in 2019 endorsed the Democrat-led House’s bid to impeach former President Donald Trump over his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Democrats accused the former president of withholding aid to Ukraine in a bid to influence the 2020 election in his influence.

“President Trump withheld Congressionally appropriated aid to Ukraine unless they granted him a political favor. It’s the definition of quid pro quo,” Biden wrote in a 2019 X post amid Trump’s impeachment investigation. “This is no joke—Trump continues to put his own personal, political interests ahead of the national interest. He must be impeached.”

In a move that many have described as karma, Biden’s 2019 comment has come back to bite him after he withheld Congress-approved aid to Israel to boost his falling support among the pro-Palestine left.

Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) announced Thursday that House Republicans are preparing articles of impeachment against Joe Biden over his threat to withhold Israeli aid. Mills maintained that Biden’s threat is a political ploy to bolster lagging support from far-left voters.

“These are the same accusations made against President Trump, which resulted in his impeachment by Democrats. The same must happen for Joe Biden, which is why we’re drawing up articles of impeachment now,” Mills told Fox News.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) also sent out an X post signifying his intention to support Biden’s impeachment based on the 2019 Trump precedent.

“The House has no choice but to impeach Biden based on the Trump-Ukraine precedent of withholding foreign aid to help with reelection. Only with Biden, it’s true,” Cotton wrote on X.

Trump on Thursday reacted to Biden’s threat to withhold aid from Israel, noting that the president’s decision is a betrayal of the Jewish nation.

“What Biden is doing with respect to Israel is disgraceful,” Trump said before he entered a Manhattan courtroom for his criminal trial. “If any Jewish person voted for Joe Biden, they should be ashamed of themselves. He’s totally abandoned Israel and nobody can believe it. I guess he feels good about it because he did it as a political decision. You have to do the right decision, not the political decision.”
