Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will head his country’s delegation at the upcoming Munich Security Conference, where he’ll be joined by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Keith Kellogg, the special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, according to Ukraine’s presidential chief of staff.

Speaking with The Associated Press, Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak indicated that the Ukrainian contingent would present their strategy for ending the conflict and establishing enduring peace.

“It´s necessary that the leaders and the experts in politics who will be in Munich realize that this is momentum,” he said about Ukraine´s message for the event. “That we are very near to really ending this war by a just and lasting peace, but (it´s) necessary to be together… Not to give Russia an opportunity to divide the world, to divide partners.”

The Munich summit, a longstanding forum for international security discussions, takes on heightened importance this year amid the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict and other global challenges.

The conference occurs at a crucial time for Ukraine as it works to build ties with the new American administration, which has been vital in supporting Ukraine throughout the nearly three-year conflict.

During his campaign, President Trump pledged to resolve the conflict within 24 hours, later extending that timeline to six months after taking office. However, significant differences remain between Russian and Ukrainian positions, leaving uncertainty about potential ceasefire arrangements.

Yermak expressed Ukraine’s intention to discuss potential security measures that could prevent future Russian aggression. While no date has been set for a meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump, Yermak emphasized the importance of arranging one soon.

The chief of staff confirmed Kellogg’s planned visit to Kyiv following the Munich conference in late February. Ukrainian officials intend to provide comprehensive updates about battlefield conditions, ongoing mobilization efforts, and weapons delivery status.

Trump recently expressed interest in securing access to Ukraine’s rare earth materials as a condition for continued U.S. support, aligning with elements of Zelenskyy’s previously presented victory strategy.

In military developments, Ukraine’s General Staff reported striking a Russian airfield in Primorsko-Akhtarsk used for launching Iranian-designed drones. France announced its first delivery of promised Mirage fighter jets to Ukraine, while the Netherlands provided additional F-16s.

The overnight assault on the Krasnodar region facility reportedly caused a fire at the site, which houses drones and aircraft used against Ukraine’s border regions. While Russian officials acknowledged downing Ukrainian drones in the area, they didn’t specifically address the airfield incident.

Ukraine has enhanced its domestic drone production capabilities to reduce dependence on Western support. These locally-produced drones have successfully targeted Russian infrastructure, including oil refineries and military installations.

French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu confirmed the delivery of Mirage jets via social media, though the quantity wasn’t specified. Similarly, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry announced receiving more Dutch F-16s without providing specific numbers.

Russian forces launched 77 drones and two Iskander-M missiles at Ukraine overnight. Ukrainian air defenses successfully neutralized 56 drones, while 18 others were disrupted by electronic countermeasures. While some structural damage occurred, no casualties were reported.
