Walz Blasted Over Covid Stand

Daily Report August 15,2024

Former Minnesota bar owner Lisa Zarza blasted Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz on Tuesday, accusing him of implementing COVID-19 policies as governor that ultimately led to her bankruptcy.

Speaking with Fox News’ Todd Piro, Zarza pointed out that Walz, who is running alongside Vice President Kamala Harris on the 2024 Democratic ticket, allowed large retailers like Target and Walmart to remain open ahead of Black Friday while forcing small businesses to close under his COVID-19 restrictions.

“He was looking out for the big people. He wasn’t looking out for the small businesses of Minnesota,” Zarza said. “He talks about being so small-minded for small business — that’s not who this man is.”

Zarza explained that her food and liquor licenses were revoked because she continued to operate both of her restaurants in defiance of Walz’s orders. The former Minnesota business owner also told Piro that she was hit with a $300,000 fine.

“When I heard the news I started crying,” Zarza said when talking about her reaction to Walz’s selection as Harris VP. “I thought I was maybe gonna have a heart attack. Not only did he destroy the state of Minnesota, but he was now gonna have a hand in destroying our country. He doesn’t look out for the citizens. He doesn’t look out for us. He looks out for big corporations, the big stores — people feeding his pockets. That’s not who Tim Walz is. He’s not some local farmer from Minnesota.”

Walz’s COVID-19 policies involved strict stay-at-home orders, social distancing regulations, mask mandates, and even a hotline for Minnesotans to report violations of these restrictions. In May 2021, Walz unveiled his months-long plan to gradually lift these measures, as reported by CBS News.

Zarza mentioned that she has since purchased a bar in Wisconsin.
