Vance Takes A Swipe At Kamala: ‘I Don’t Need A Teleprompter’

As Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) travels across the country as he campaigns to be vice president with former President Donald Trump, he’s been making some noise directly taking on Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. In his latest campaign stop, Vance showed why he doesn’t use a teleprompter – and in the process did it with a not-so-subtle jab at Harris.

The crowd erupted when someone shouted, “Where’s your teleprompter?”

Vance, without missing a beat, replied, “Ma’am, I don’t need a teleprompter. I actually have thoughts in my head, unlike Kamala Harris.”

It was a pointed remark, really accurate and clear, that brought home the audience and hammered the point of great contrast Vance is painting between himself and Harris.

Vance has been on the offensive since President Joe Biden was nudged out of the race by his own party, leaving Harris as the Democratic Party’s de facto nominee just over a month ago. He reminds voters in a flash that Harris, as the sitting Vice President, has had ample time to address the issues she now claims she’ll start fixing “on day one” if she and Walz are elected.

“Day one,” Vance told a crowd in Michigan last week, “was 1,300 days ago.”

The Ohio senator hasn’t just criticized Harris for her policies – or lack thereof. He’s also taken shots at her for avoiding the press.

One day, Vance sauntered over to the scrum of reporters camped by Harris’s jet, knowing she was about to blow them off, again. He told them he was just admiring Air Force Two, because that might be his plane soon.

In addition to the joke, Vance reassured the press that he’d take their questions when she wouldn’t.

It wasn’t until a full month after becoming the Democratic Party’s leading candidate that Harris finally agreed to an interview. And even then, it’s a pre-taped session with a friendly CNN anchor, Dana Bash, airing Thursday — with Governor Walz right by her side for the entire conversation.
