University Authorities Accused Of Sabotage Conservative Event

Daily Report March 22,2024

Administrators at the University of Memphis allegedly sabotaged a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event featuring Kyle Rittenhouse by issuing a late ticketing demand.

According to Breitbart News, the university’s administrators told the school’s TPUSA student leaders that they would need to change their previously approved ticketing process or face the prospect of the event being canceled.

The outlet reported that Melanie Murry, the school’s legal counsel, and Melinda Carlson, the university’s vice president for student affairs, informed the conservative organization’s staff and student leaders that the school would send an email to attendees telling them their tickets were invalid. The school also stated that it will send the attendees another link for re-ticketing at 9 a.m.

TPUSA had set up the previous ticketing process to prevent the event from being sabotaged by protesters who buy bulk tickets and refuse to show up — stopping would-be attendees from obtaining tickets — and then staging a walkout, leaving the venue empty during the event.

According to TPUSA, The school allegedly leaked the information to a group of protesters 30 minutes before the new re-ticketing link went online. A group of students affiliated with TPUSA were able to infiltrate the protesters’ group chat and found the protesters talking about the re-ticketing issue even though it hadn’t been made public.

“Just as an update I know many of us had tickets that now are not working. I was told that they will be re-ticketing the event tomorrow morning between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.,” the protester’s group chat read. “Please make sure to get a new ticket so more of us can participate in the walkout aspect of the protest.”

The event proceeded as planned, but organizers were forced to end the event due to mass protests and walkouts.

“The protestors knew exactly what was going to happen before it was public knowledge,” TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet told Breitbart News. “There is no way these groups could have known the new ticketing timing and protocol without school administrators leaking that information. This is unprecedented. We’ve never had to deal with a day of ticketing change, nor have we had to deal with an administration leaking our ticket information.”

The protesters soon turned violent, with law enforcement responding at the scene to keep them from attacking attendees.
