Ukrainian Soldiers Voice Concerns About Biden’s Ability To Govern Amid Cognitive Decline

Ukraine Daily Report July 14,2024

Ukrainian soldiers have weighed in on Joe Biden seeking a second term after the President slipped up Thursday at NATO’s closing press conference, mistakenly referring to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky as “Putin.”

While Zelensky quickly dismissed the lapse, Ukrainian soldiers confided in the Kyiv Independent that they were worried about Biden’s mental faculties and said America—and Ukraine—would be better served if he withdrew from reelection.

The quotes come from Pavlo, who is a junior lieutenant in Ukraine’s 63rd Mechanized Brigade which has been fighting on the front lines in the Donbas region OH: “I believe that [Biden] needs to be removed urgently.”

Thousands of troops have expressed concerns about Ukraine’s most important Western ally and main supplier of weapons facing the backdrop full-scale invasion by Russia might be unable to take urgent decisions needed for governance.

Nor do they trust Biden can beat former President Donald Trump, who challenged aid to Ukraine and whose initial impeachment centered on holding up Ukrainian assistance before Russia’s February 2022 invasion.

In fighting its war with Russia, Ukraine soldiers have admitted that Biden has been “very useful.” In sharp contrast, Yevhen notes that Trump is “a chaotic person from whom we don’t know what to expect.” He also commented that Vice President Kamala Harris “would be a better president than both” Biden and Trump.

Both countries also launched drone attacks on Saturday. In another case, one of the Ukraine drones crashed into an oil depot in the Tsimlyansk district and set off a blaze that burned for more than four hours.

Two people were reported killed by bombings in the Kherson region, with two others wounded in the attack. In Kharkiv, two more people died from Russian shelling, with 22 others reportedly wounded.
