Trump Rules Former Governor Out As Running Mate

Daily Report January 20,2024

Former President Donald Trump finally addressed one key question surrounding his choice for the 2024 running mate while speaking at a campaign event in New Hampshire on Friday.

Trump has kept details regarding his 2024 running mate a closely guarded secret. Reports, however, emerged last month that the former president was considering former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley as his running mate. According to Conservative Archives, multiple sources said Trump was asking his close allies what they think of Haley as his running mate.

The former president addressed those reports during the Friday Campaign event in New Hampshire, revealing that Haley could never be his running mate.

“She is not presidential timber,” Trump said during the campaign event. “Now when I say that, that probably means that she’s not going to be chosen as the vice president. I know her very well. She’s not tough enough. She’s not smart enough. And she wasn’t respected enough. She cannot do this job. She’s not going to be able to deal with President Xi. She’s not going to be able to deal with Putin.”

While the former president did not say if he considered Haley at any point, several of his allies —including his son, Donald Trump Jr., and former Fox News Host Tucker Carlson— have expressed fierce opposition to Haley as Trump’s running mate.

Carlson, while speaking at a conservative event, said he would oppose the former president if he picked Haley as his running mate.

“I would not only not vote for that ticket, I would advocate against it as strongly as I could,” Carlson said when asked by Pool if he would still vote for Trump if the former president chose Haley as his VP. “That’s just poison.”

Trump Jr. told Newsmax TV’s “Wake Up America” that he would do everything in his power to make sure his father doesn’t pick Haley as his running mate.

“You know, I would do whatever I could to make sure it wasn’t Nikki Haley,” Trump Jr. said But you know, but like a Ron DeSantis, could I see? You’re never gonna rule out someone that is a leading contender. It doesn’t mean that’s who you go with. I could see other people that would be great. I’d love to see you know a J. D. Vance. I’d love to see a Tucker Carlson.
