Trump Makes Massive Progress In Case

Daily Report April 02,2024

Former President Donald Trump on Monday stunned New York Democratic Attorney General Letitia James when he posted the $175 million bond as part of his appeal against a civil fraud judgment in New York.

James accused the former president, alongside two of his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, of fraudulently inflating the former president’s assets to get bank loans. Two former executives from the Trump Organization were also sued, along with the former president and his sons.

A New York judge had already ordered the former president to pay $464 million to the State of New York in his effort to appeal the trial division’s judgment. Trump, however, found it difficult to post the bond, with insurance companies backing out of covering such a huge amount of bond.

With the former president struggling to raise the initial bond, Letitia James began making moves to seize some of Trump’s assets. However, an appellate court panel agreed to reduce the bond to $175 million if he could raise the funds in 10 days.

“I greatly respect the decision of the appellate division and I’ll post the $175 million in cash or bonds or security or whatever is necessary very quickly within the 10 days, and I thank the appellate division for acting quickly,” Trump said following the ruling.

Various reports showed that the former president posted the bond on Monday, dashing James’s hopes of seizing the former president’s assets. Trump took to His Truth Social account to share news of his latest victory against James.

“I’ve just posted a 175 Million Dollar Bond with the sadly failing and very troubled State of New York, based on a Corrupt Judge and Attorney General who used a Statute that was never used for this before, where no Jury was allowed, my financial statements were conservative and had a 100% perfect caution/non-reliance clause, there were no victims (except me!), there was no crime or damage, there was only success and HAPPY BANKS,” the former president wrote.
