Trump Calls Pennsylvania’s Automatic Voter Registration A ‘Disaster’

Daily Report September 26,2023

Former President Donald Trump on Monday warned against Pennsylvania’s new automatic voter registration, describing it as a disaster for the Republican party.

Pennsylvania, one of several swing states, became the 24th U.S. state to adopt automatic voter registration last Tuesday after Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) announced the news on Twitter.

“Automatic voter registration is a commonsense step to ensure election security and save Pennsylvanians time and tax dollars,” Shapiro said. “Residents of our Commonwealth already provide proof of identity, residency, age, and citizenship at the DMV – all the information required to register to vote — so it makes good sense to streamline that process with voter registration.”

Trump, however, maintains that Pennsylvania’s switch to automatic voter registration spells doom for the Republican party in the forthcoming elections.

“Pennsylvania is at it again! The Radical Left Governor, Josh Shapiro, has just announced a switch to Automatic Voter Registration, a disaster for the Election of Republicans, including your favorite President, ME!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account. “This is a totally Unconstitutional Act, and must be met harshly by Republican Leadership in Washington and Pennsylvania. Likewise, the RNC, and Ronna McDaniel, must spend their time working on this, instead of meaningless Debates where I am up by more than 50 points.”

Trump added that Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin are more important than his GOP contenders and the next GOP debate, which is scheduled for Wednesday. The former president urged the Republican party to fight against the new Pennsylvania law.

“Start suing now and get the right lawyers this time,” Trump added. “The Pennsylvania Republican Party must likewise not let this happen. It will be a disaster for our nation, which is being destroyed by these lunatics, Marxists and fascists whose only real ability is to cheat on elections.”

Trump won the battleground state in 2016 but lost it to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
