Trump Calls Grieving Mother Ahead of First Presidential Debate to Offer Condolences

Donald Trump Daily Report June 29,2024

Jocelyn Nungaray’s mother, the 12-year-old who was brutally murdered by two illegal migrants, was “in shock” Friday when former President Donald Trump called her just ten minutes before appearing on stage for the first presidential debate with President Joe Biden.

Passing the phone to Alexis Nungaray’s best friend, Victoria Galvan, who was with the grieving mother when he called, Trump told her that as anxious and nervous as he might have been to talk ahead of the debate, there was “no one I wanted this conversation before tonight more than you.”

“He was like, ‘I’m actually about to come on for a debate’ … He gave his condolences, and he said that he would be reaching back out to her,” Galvan said.

“He wanted to … say that he was praying for Alexis and that he’s been thinking about her and he wanted to reach out. He said that he was going to reach out in a couple days to her … I mean, she was really … we were all shocked,” Galvan continued.

When the call concluded, Galvan said she and Alexis were struck by how Jocelyn — who had been staying with her — would have marveled at a previous president taking an interest in her experience. During their mourning the call provided a brief respite, an illustration of how far her plight had turned into viral news.

The suffering of Jocelyn’s family became a focus during Thursday’s presidential debate after former President Donald Trump claimed on stage that he had spoken with them.

Jocelyn was brutally murdered and left for dead in a Texas bayou by two illegal migrants from Venezuela last Friday, both of whom have been charged with capital murder after torturing her over the course of two hours. This act of barbarity has stirred up a furor calling out for justice.

They crossed the southern border illegally and were released months before Jocelyn was killed, drawing attention to issues about border security particularly in light of immigration policies.

On the debate stage, Trump brought up several sensational cases involving illegal migrants who have been freed into the country under the Biden administration and emphasizing the need for stricter migration control.
