Leaders in the conservative movement are having their say on who gets to replace former House Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy after his ouster this week.
McCarthy was removed from speaker after the House voted 216-210 to adopt Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) motion to remove the California lawmaker from the office of House speaker. House Republicans who voted with House Democrats to oust McCarthy include Gaetz —the original proponent of the motion— alongside Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Ken Buck (R-CO), Tim Burchett (R-TN), Eli Crane (R-AZ), Bob Good (R-VA), Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Matt Rosendale (R-MT).
Since then, House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Chairman of The House Judiciary Committee Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) have signified their intention to replace McCarthy as speaker. Even rumors have sufficed that former President Donlad Trump could be the next speaker.

According to Breitbart News, prominent leaders in the conservative movement have sent out a letter endorsing Jordan as their preferred candidate to replace McCarthy.

This moment comes at a time when our country is at a critical crossroad,” a letter signed by the top conservatives said. “Congress now has a choice to elect an establishment leader who adopts the same methods that infect the swamp or choose a proven and effective conservative leader who will unite the party. Congressman Jim Jordan has consistently been on the front lines for the Conservative Movement and all Americans since elected. His voting record, chairmanship of the House Freedom Caucus, and chairmanship of the committees on the Judiciary and Weaponization of the Federal Government speak to his effectiveness. Just this Congress, Jordan has passed the strongest immigration and border enforcement bill ever, stopped IRS agents from making unannounced house calls, and held the corrupt Biden DOJ and FBI accountable.Conservatives should support a leader who will hold the Biden Administration accountable, cut reckless spending, and change Washington forever”
The letter was signed by top conservative leaders such as American Accountability Foundation president Tom Jones, Conservative Partnership Institute Chairman Jim DeMint, conservative Leadership PAC Chairman Morton C. Blackwell, Citizens United president David N. Bossie among others.
Trump, who reports suggest could replace McCarthy, has also endorsed Jordan to be the next speaker.
