The Secret Service’s Role In Trump’s Shooting – Rumors Of An Inside Job

Secret Service officials reportedly disregarded requests to add security around Donald Trump in the last two years, one news source discovered.

The former president, 78, had requested extra agents and magnetometers at immense public gatherings and additional snipers for outdoor premises on four occasions, specified four informants to The Washington Post.

Instead of granting the extra protection, Secret Security agents claimed to have their hands full. Secret Service agents, along with local law enforcement, were responsible for securing Trump’s Pennsylvania rally where 20-year-old gunman Mathew Thomas Crooks opened fire at the Republican presidential candidate and crowd.

The Secret Service has declined claims that Trump asked for additional protection.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has been facing increasing pressure to resign for her handling of the assassination attempt and lack of competence of the agents.

Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, has since come out to publicly admitted that the agency denied Trump’s request for additional security.

Guglielmi also said that there were “some instances where specific Secret Service specialized units or resources were not provided,” but that the agency instead utilized state or local partners to add protections.

“The Secret Service has a vast, challenging, and intricate mission,” Guglielmi said in a statement. “Every day we work in a dynamic threat environment to ensure our protectees are safe and secure across multiple events, travel, and other difficult environments. We execute a comprehensive and layered strategy to balance personnel, technology, and specialized operational needs.”

Despite questions circulating around the Secret Service and their role in the assassination attempt, the former president has praised the agents for their quick efforts and protection after the gunman opened fire.
