Suni Lee Jumps In On Biles-Skinner Drama In A Since-Deleted Instagram Comment

Daily Report August 01,2024

After Simone Biles took a subliminal shot at former U.S. teammate MyKayla Skinner in an Instagram post saluting her Wednesday gold medal, current American gymnast Sunisa Lee looks to have ratcheted up the tension even more.

“Put a finger down if Simone Biles just ended you,” wrote the 21-year-old Lee.

The first incident stemmed from a comment by Skinner, herself an Olympic silver medalist for Team USA in Tokyo, about what she thought was apparent lack of talent overall the roster on gymnastics this year.

“Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be,” Skinner said in a video that has since been removed from YouTube as the 2024 roster was announced. “The girls just don’t have the work ethic.”

After the U.S. won team gymnastics gold Biles took to Instagram with a caption that reads “Lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions” which was clearly directed at Skinner for her previous comments.

More drama came Tuesday when Biles said Skinner had blocked her on social media.

Skinner, however, apologized on social media weeks before the start of the Summer Games for her comments.

“I want to formally apologize to Team USA and to our gymnastic community for my comments during my recent YouTube episodes of the gymnastics Olympic trials. It was not my intention to offend or disrespect any of the athletes or to take away from their hard work.”

Lee wasn’t the only American gymnast to come out backing Biles and speaking out against Skinner.

“It doesn’t get more iconic than this.. She f’d around n found out fr. Feels like I need to apologize just to redeem my first name,” McKayla Maroney wrote.
