Speaker Johnson Reveals Next Step In Biden Impeachment Inquiry

Daily Report November 16,2023

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Wednesday revealed that President Joe Biden’s impeachment inquiry has gotten to a stage where witness testimonies should be given under oath.

Johnson made the revelation after receiving an update on the inquiry from House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY). Comer, alongside House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), is leading the president’s impeachment inquiry.

At this stage, our impeachment inquiry has already shown the corrupt conduct of the president’s family and that he and White House officials have repeatedly lied about his knowledge and involvement in his family’s business activities,” Johnson said in a statement to Fox News Digital after receiving the update. “It has also exposed the tens of millions of dollars from foreign adversaries being paid to shell companies controlled by the president’s son, brother and their business associates. Now, the appropriate step is to place key witnesses under oath and question them under the penalty of perjury, to fill gaps in the record. I commend the good work of Chairmen Comer, Jordan, and Smith [House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO)]. As we move forward toward an inflection point in this critical investigation, they have my full and unwavering support.”

Johnson did not reveal the names of witnesses set to testify under oath. However, Comer has issued subpoenas to members of the Biden family and their close business associates. Comer subpoenaed first son Hunter Biden, President Biden’s brother James Biden and Rob Walker, a former Biden family business associate.

Comer has also requested that other Biden family members, including Sara and Hallie Biden, and their associates appear for transcribed interviews. Other Biden associates including Elizabeth Secundy, Melissa Cohen and Tony Bobulinski are also requested to give testimonies in front of the House Oversight Committee.

“The House Oversight Committee has followed the money and built a record of evidence revealing how Joe Biden knew, was involved, and benefited from his family’s influence-peddling schemes. Now, the House Oversight Committee is going to bring in members of the Biden family and their associates to question them on this record of evidence,” Comer said in a statement.“Unlike the many lies President Biden told the American people about his family’s business schemes, bank records don’t lie. These records reveal how the Bidens sold Joe Biden around to the world to benefit the Biden family, including Joe Biden himself, to the detriment of U.S. interests.”
