Simone Biles INJURED During Paris Olympics Warm Ups – USA Gymnastics Team Future Uncertain

Daily Report July 28,2024

Simone Biles had a scare Sunday morning when she hobbled off the floor in what might have been an injury-prone moment during Paris Olympics all-around gymnastics qualifying.

After the mishap, however, Biles came back and completed a close-to-perfect routine likely enough to put her in first place.

Biles had left the arena during the qualifying round after appearing to tweak her leg while warming up on floor exercise. The incident was reminiscent of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when she withdrew from the team final. This time, though, she re-emerged a few minutes later with tape on her left leg.

She was shown on the video saying she felt a “twinge” in her calf. She next took to the floor where she performed a routine to Taylor Swift anthem ‘Ready For It’, wowing spectators in front of her. The hardest routine in the world is delivered solid for a 14.600.

US gymnastics coach Cecile Landi said that Biles has dealt with the problem in her leg for a couple weeks and called it “minor.” Landi added the thought of sitting Biles out never crossed their minds.

“I can’t express it,” she said. “I’m really proud of her and what she’s been through and what she’s showing the world what she’s capable of doing.”

Biles scored 59.566 in the all-around at packed Bercy Arena, full of a star-studded crowd cheering her on through every flip and twist she attempted during Olympic qualifying.
