During a recent appearance on Newsmax TV’s “Finnerty,” Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) expanded the scope of deportation discussions beyond the Mahmoud Khalil case, suggesting that non-citizens who participated in violent Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 should also face deportation.

Following his support for the Trump administration’s efforts to deport Khalil, Schmitt expressed his belief that deportation measures should be broadened. He emphasized that non-citizens who engaged in violent protests during the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020 should be removed from the country, noting that their guest status doesn’t afford them the same free speech protections as citizens.

The Missouri Senator elaborated on the legal distinctions between citizens and non-citizens, particularly in the case of Khalil. He stressed that Khalil’s actions extended beyond mere expression of opinion and crossed into unlawful territory.

Schmitt underscored the legal implications for individuals residing in the United States on temporary visas or guest programs. He clarified that such status doesn’t exempt them from the consequences of breaking U.S. laws, and even in matters of free speech, their non-citizen status subjects them to different legal standards.
