Reality TV stars celebrate first holiday apart after split

Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave will be spending their first Thanksgiving apart following their recent divorce announcement.

The 43-year-old former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, who publicly revealed her divorce plans from Arroyave, 47, through an Instagram post earlier this month, will be taking a different direction this holiday season.

While the couple, who exchanged vows in 2011 and share three children – Cruz and daughters Slate and Dove – have typically celebrated together, this year marks a departure from tradition.

According to TMZ, the holiday season’s usual power to unite families won’t be bringing this separated pair together. Instead, Mellencamp plans to travel to Indiana with their children to celebrate with her father, rock legend John Mellencamp. Meanwhile, Arroyave will spend the day with his family, including his daughter Isabella from a previous relationship.

The holiday arrangements come amid recent developments in their separation, with Mellencamp addressing her role in the marriage’s dissolution. She recently took to Instagram to share her thoughts on personal growth and accountability.

“The only person who can change your life is you. We have 2 options, pretend to be a victim or stand up and fight for yourself. We all deserve peace and happiness,” Mellencamp posted on an Instagram video of herself working out Sunday.

“I have cried and mourned. I have taken accountability and apologized for things I have done wrong. Now, I have given myself permission to grow and thrive.”

She further explained her decision to maintain privacy regarding the marriage’s end, stating, “I have decided to not pander to the media and tell my side because in the big scheme of things [clickbait] means nothing and of course 3 sides to every story. How I can stand up and show up for the people that do does [mean something]. This is called being an adult. This is what saying it with my full chest means.”

The separation has been complicated by revelations from Page Six, which reported Mellencamp’s involvement with her married horse trainer, Simon Schroeder, beginning in May. Sources close to the situation later claimed Arroyave had also been unfaithful in 2015.
