Oversight Committee And Goldman Clash Over Biden Donor Subpoena

Daily Report November 11,2023

The GOP-led House Oversight Committee clashed with Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) on Friday after the New York Democrat lawmaker criticized the committee’s subpoena for Hunter Biden’s art buyer, Elizabeth Naftali.

Naftali is one of Hunter Biden’s business associates who the committee subpoenaed as part of the Republican-led House’ efforts to investigate corruption allegations against President Joe Biden and his family. Goldman, who has been running cover for the Bidens since the investigation began, blasted House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep James Comer (R-KY) for issuing the subpoena.

“Elizabeth Naftali’s 3-year-old niece is currently being held hostage by Hamas, yet @RepJamesComer is spending his time subpoenaing a private citizen as part of his wild goose chase rather than working to return her family from captivity,” Goldman wrote on X. “This is a new low from House Republicans.”

Comer’s committee hit back at Goldman, claiming the New York lawmaker is trying to politicize a hostage situation. The committee urged Goldman to fulfill his oversight duties by helping to root out corruption.

“Not only has Ms. Naftali donated thousands of dollars to Rep. Goldman’s campaign, but she remains an important figure in the Biden family’s influence peddling schemes after her decision to purchase Hunter Biden’s artwork,” a committee spokesman told Breitbart News. “Elizabeth Naftali currently serves on President Biden’s Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad. The Oversight Committee expects Ms. Naftali to comply with the lawful subpoena.”

Naftali is a prominent Biden donor and currently serves on the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad as a Biden appointee. Records also show that the Biden appointee has also given campaign donations to Goldman. Naftali, who is influential in the California Democratic circles, donated $13,414 to the Biden campaign and another $29,700 to the Democratic National Campaign Committee between January and July 2023.

Naftali, a Los Angeles real-estate investor, was recently unmasked as one of the mysterious buyers of Hunter Biden’s artwork. Naftali and other buyers spent a whopping $1.3 million on Hunter Biden’s art collection. While it remains unclear when Naftali bought the art, House Republicans have argued that the purchase is a case of influence peddling and quid pro quo.
