Oprah Continues To CALL OUT Harris For AVOIDING Question

Daily Report September 20,2024

Vice President Kamala Harris took the stage Thursday night at a high-profile campaign event in Michigan, hosted by Oprah Winfrey. The event, intended to spotlight grassroots organizers supporting Harris’s presidential bid, also gave voters the opportunity to ask questions about her platform. However, despite the forum, Harris refrained from providing any new policy proposals.

During the two-hour “Unite for America” livestream, a key moment occurred when Harris was asked about her approach to securing the southern border.

“So, it’s a wonderful and important question,” Harris responded. “You know, my background was as a prosecutor, and I was also the elected attorney general for two terms of the border state. So this is not a theoretical issue for me. This is something I’ve actually worked on.” Harris then shifted focus, criticizing Republicans for not passing a bipartisan border bill.

As her three-minute response continued, Winfrey gently interjected, saying, “So to answer Justin’s question.”

Winfrey, who moderated the event, stepped in again when Harris wrapped up without addressing specific solutions. “Now that that bill is gone and hasn’t passed, will you introduce—” Winfrey began, before Harris cut in with, “Absolutely.”

“When I am elected as president of the United States, I will make sure that bill gets to my desk and I will sign it into law,” Harris promised. However, she did not provide any new proposals for handling the southern border crisis.

The event, streamed across multiple platforms and featuring celebrities like Chris Rock and Ben Stiller, was designed to reach a wide audience. Both stars publicly stated their support for Harris during the livestream.

Beyond immigration, Harris delved into her stance on abortion, describing it as “immoral” to deny a person’s right to make decisions about their own body, and called such actions a violation. She also reiterated her plans to assist new homeowners with $25,000 toward a down payment and increase tax deductions for small business owners and the child tax credit.

Winfrey, who had endorsed Harris during the Democratic National Convention in August, observed that Harris seemed to have “more swagger” since President Biden announced he would not seek re-election.

Harris reflected on this shift, stating, “You know, we each have those moments in our lives where it’s time to step up.” She added, “I felt a sense of responsibility, to be honest with you, and with that comes a sense of purpose.”

During the event, Harris also indirectly criticized her opponent, former President Donald Trump, remarking that “the beauty of a democracy, as long as we can hold on to it, the beauty of a democracy is each of us has the power.”

This appearance marked Harris’s sixth media interview as a 2024 candidate, putting her on pace to give fewer interviews than any recent presidential nominee. Though her policy platform has been slow to materialize, she distanced herself from President Biden, stating, “I’m not Joe Biden,” and warning voters that “we can’t go back” to Trump.

Jen O’Malley Dillon, Harris’s campaign manager, acknowledged the tight race, particularly in battleground states like Michigan. “While we have this extraordinary growing enthusiasm that the vice president and [Minnesota Governor] Tim Walz are seeing everywhere, we are still in a margin of error rates. It’s tied,” Dillon said.

“It’s tied right here in Michigan. It’s tied in all the battleground states. So it’s going to take all of us to build a pathway, many pathways, to 270 electoral votes. That’s what we’re focused on.”
