The New York Times editorial board has issued a stern warning against voting for former President Donald Trump, labeling him as “a threat to democracy” in a bold, hyperlink-filled statement. The board, comprising experienced journalists, emphasized Trump’s attempts to undermine the 2020 election and his ongoing threat to democratic institutions.
The editorial board highlighted Trump’s role in overturning Roe v. Wade and its consequences, as well as his propensity for dishonesty and lawlessness. They cautioned that a second Trump term could lead to government retaliation against opponents, mass deportations, and policies detrimental to various economic classes.

The board also expressed concerns about potential damage to climate initiatives, international alliances, and the empowerment of autocratic leaders under another Trump presidency. They urged Americans to demand better leadership and exercise their right to vote.
In contrast, The Washington Post chose not to endorse any candidate, resulting in a significant number of subscription cancellations from disgruntled liberal readers.
Meanwhile, the New York Times faces potential disruption on election day due to a threatened strike by its Tech Guild. The union, representing approximately 700 workers, has warned the Board of Directors that an agreement must be reached before the election to avoid a work stoppage.

The Tech Guild is pushing for improved job security, fair working conditions, competitive wages and benefits, and enhanced diversity and inclusion measures. They emphasized their willingness to negotiate but stressed the urgency of reaching an agreement to prevent a “painful and costly strike.”
This situation adds another layer of complexity to the already tense political climate surrounding the upcoming election.
