And Trump, in a video message, said that she “never expected the government would invade our privacy here in America.” The next picture he painted: “They stormed my house in Florida and took all my things.”

She said her experience “is not confined to me however, this is a greater problem,” adding “This story is not my own, rather a path of all Americans seeking as a portent that our freedom and liberties must be jealously protected.”

Federal authorities had been attempting with varying degrees of volatility to recover classified material that the former president had and was in possession of for at least several months when the FBI finally raided Mar-a-Lago on August 8, 2022.

The search later found hundreds of pages with classification markings, according to court documents. Trump was indicted in the ensuing probe with 40 charges pertaining to his suspected wholeholding of classified documents and a conspiracy to obstruct investigators led by special counsel Jack Smith.

While the case was dismissed by the U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon in July, Smith’s team is said to be working on reigniting the lawsuit.

The 45th president is now planning to sue the Department of Justice for over $100 million and accusing the government of engaging in political persecution. Trump, who has not been charged with any crimes himself, is still facing 14 counts in two separate indictments that are now pending. He has since denied all accusations, and pleaded not guilty to each of the charges.

Melania Trump, who had been absent from the campaign trail for most of her husband’s latest bid for the White House, has recently been speaking out. The message in her most recent video is the second within the past week, as she had issued one addressing an assassination attempt on her husband earlier this year.

Trying to kill my husband was a very traumatic experience, she said in an earlier video. “Now, it weighs down heavily in the silence.”
