Melania Trump’s recent words “that violent bullet strike my husband” have touched the hearts of many and resonated across the country.
Her message reflected the view of immigrants who appreciate that America is at its core a forgiving and humane nation — one which highly prizes “the courage and common sense” of our citizens.
“I am thinking of you, now, my fellow Americans. We have always been a unique union. America, the fabric of our gentle nation is tattered, but our courage and common sense must ascend and bring us back together as one,” she said.
A native of the former Yugoslavia, Melania was born in 1970 during a time when Communist sentiments were heavily prevalent. Her background allows her an intimate view into what she describes as “the political machine” that can crush will and independence.
“Let us not forget that differing opinions, policy, and political games are inferior to love,” she writes. “Our personal, structural, and life commitment — until death — is at serious risk. Political concepts are simple when compared to us, human beings. We are all humans, and fundamentally, instinctively, we want to help one another.”
She added, “Let us remember that when the time comes to look beyond the left and the right, beyond the red and the blue, we all come from families with the passion to fight for a better life together, while we are here, in this earthly realm.”
What she knows far better than many Americans is the stakes as has been forced to watch her husband endure political prosecutions, public ostracization at dinner parties, impeachments, hoaxes, and now an attempted assassination.
She never explicitly says this, but she notes that political violence is endemic in the Democrat playbook. For example, the Democrats’ almost daily warmongering to slander Trump rather than see him as a father of five.
The New York Times all but declared Trump a traitor who “betrayed America” in black headlines across its Sunday editorial page, hours after the assassination attempt. For eight years the media has hammered out this beat of rage-filled rhetoric.
As Melania wrote: “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change.”
“A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out [extinguish] Donald’s passion — his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration. The core facets of my husband’s life — his human side — were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times.”
