When an illegal alien killed Don Rosenberg’s son in 2010, the Angel Dad must have been expecting to get justice for his son. Rosenberg, however, claimed that Mayorkas shielded his son’s killer from deportation.
Rosenburg made the accusation while speaking in an interview on the Immigration Reform Law Institute’s (IRLI) “No Border, No Country” podcast. Rosenburg’s son, Drew Rosenberg —a 25-year-old second-year law student— was riding his bike when he was killed in San Francisco on November 16, 2010.
Drew’s killer, Roberto Galo, hit the 25-year-old and ran him over twice before attempting to flee the scene. Galo, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, left his car resting on Drew’s abdomen. Galo spent only 43 days in jail for the heinous crime before San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi let him go.
“I met with Henry Waxman who was my congressman at the time. I just said ‘Look, I want to make sure this guy is detained and deported’ and this is now into 2012,” Rosenberg said. “I wouldn’t say Waxman was enthusiastic about helping me, but he did write to USCIS and got a response back that the guy would not be detained and would not be deported because, and this is an exact quote, ‘he’s only committed one crime of moral turpitude’ — [that’s] government speak for ‘he’s only killed one person, what’s the big deal?’”
Rosenberg said he only found at a later date that Mayorka, who was serving as head of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) under former President Barack Obama, had formulated the policy that saw Galo released.

Rosenburg said Mayorkas tried desperately to shield Galo from deportation.
“Liar, scumbag, psychopath, he’s all of those things,” Rosenberg said of Mayorkas. “I left that meeting with him, I almost had the shivers … there’s something wrong with him.”
Mayorkas has come under fire from Republicans over his handling of the border crisis. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AR) accused Mayorkas of destroying the U.S. border intentionally and has called for the DHS chief’s impeachment.
