Josh Hawley Blasts 2024 challenger, Says America Needs Border policies That Protect America

Daily Report September 03,2023

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) slammed former Sen. Claire McCaskill’s (D-MO) border policy, accusing the former senator as part of the country’s ruling elite who have become “globalists first and Americans second..”

Hawley, in an opinion piece on Fox News Digital, accused McCaskill of praising Democrat border extremists who want to abolish the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. Hawley noted that McCaskill, his 2024 challenger, voted against President Donald Trump’s wall and other measures to secure the border.

“Now she is sponsoring the most radical open-border bill ever introduced in Congress,” Hawley wrote. “ Her bill was written by California liberal Democratic Sen. Diane Feinstein, and it would give a free pass to any illegal immigrant who brings a child to the border. With McCaskill’s approach, illegal immigrants who use children as human shields would win release into the interior of this country, no questions asked. That’s wrong. That’s lawless. That’s not Missouri.”

Hawley revealed that McCaskill is trying to prevent the government from asking about citizenship on the 2020 census.

“She wants illegal and undocumented immigrants to count toward a state’s representation in Congress, just like you and I do,” Hawley added. “If McCaskill gets her way, law-abiding Missouri citizens may well lose seats to California and other states sheltering large numbers of illegal immigrants. But maybe that shouldn’t be a surprise, since McCaskill has voted to protect sanctuary cities and give them federal funds.”

Hawley argued that McCaskill and her globalist allies are prioritizing getting cheap labor in the country and cheap products from abroad.

The GOP lawmaker added that the American people need an immigration policy that works for them. Hawley maintained that the government needs to build the wall, fund border patrol and back ICE to protect the border.

“These low-skill immigrants are competing for jobs with folks in our own country struggling to find work, while driving down wages for those who are working hardest,” Hawley added. “It’s time to do right by American workers. Limit the number of low-skilled immigrants who come to this country. End the visa lottery system. End chain migration. Replace that with a skills-based immigration system that prioritizes the training and know-how we need to create new jobs in this country for our own people.”
