President Joe Biden has been accused of lying when he claimed in 2019 that his son quit the board of Chinese government-backed BHR Equity Investment Fund Management Co. out of integrity.
New York Times best-selling author and Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer made the accusation in a Monday interview on the broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle.”
Schweizer, author of “Secret Empires,” said Hunter Biden did not quit the Chinese firm out of integrity as his father claims. Schweizer revealed that Hunter left the board because his book exposed the first son’s role at the firm.
“He stepped down from the board because they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar,” Schweizer said. “Hunter Biden joined this board and got an equity stake in this Chinese government-funded financial firm shortly after he was in China on Air Force Two with his father, where he introduced his business partner, his Chinese business partner to his father. He gave up his board position, his visible board position because the book ‘Secret Empires’ exposed this relationship.”
Schweizer revealed that despite Hunter quitting the board, he retained his ownership stake, which scholars at the University of Chicago estimate was about $20 million.
When Hunter quit the Chinese board in 2019, Biden —who was running for president at the time— said his son’s decision to leave represented the man of integrity that Hunter is.
Many ethics experts claimed Hunter’s position on the boards of foreign companies, especially Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, raises questions. Joe Biden has, however, maintained that his son did nothing wrong or unethical.
“Nothing was unethical,” Joe Biden said of his son’s role on the board of Burisma. “My son has no made money from China. The only guy who has made money from China was this guy (Trump).”
Biden made the comments during the 2020 presidential debate when President Donald Trump challenged him to talk to the American people.

Biden also claimed that he has not received any money from any foreign source. However, Joe Biden’s claim turned out to be false as reports showed that he allegedly coerced Burisma’s founder to pay him a $5 million bribe.
