Georgia Shooter’s Last Words To Mother RELEASED

Daily Report September 08,2024

Colt Gray, the accused Georgia school shooter, sent a chilling apology to his mother just before allegedly killing four people, prompting her to make a frantic call to the school in an attempt to stop the unfolding tragedy, according to his grandfather and a report.

Charles Polhamus, Colt’s grandfather, revealed in an exclusive interview with The Post on Saturday that his daughter, Marcee Gray, was visiting him at his home in Fitzgerald, Georgia, when Colt sent her a text message on Wednesday morning that read, “I’m sorry, mom.”

Immediately after receiving the message, Marcee, 43, desperately contacted Apalachee High School and warned a counselor about an “extreme emergency,” a relative told The Washington Post. Marcee recounted the events to her sister, stating, “I was the one that notified the school counselor at the high school. I told them it was an extreme emergency and for them to go immediately and find [my son] to check on him.”

After receiving Colt’s text, Marcee jumped into her car and drove towards Winder, approximately three hours away. On her way, she heard that two students and two teachers had been killed, Polhamus, 81, told The Post.

Marcee appeared distraught on Saturday as she was seen carrying pillows into her father’s home. “It’s horrible. It’s absolutely horrible,” she told The Post, declining to provide further details about the incident.

Despite Marcee’s urgent call, school officials were unable to prevent the violence. According to Gray’s sister, Annie Brown, and another student, an administrator was searching for Colt and went to his classroom just minutes before the shooting began, but Colt was not there. The administrator mistakenly had the backpack of another student with a similar name who was also not present, the report stated.

Polhamus claimed the foundation for this violence was laid long ago, blaming Colt’s father, Colin Gray, whom he described as “evil” and accused of getting Marcee addicted to drugs, thereby ruining the family. “Collie Gray did this to his family and he will rot in hell for it. That’s a fact,” Polhamus stated outside his home. “He needs the death penalty. He is probably one of the worst narcissists in the world.”

An attorney representing Colin Gray could not be reached for comment.

Both Colt and his father Colin, 54, face murder charges in connection with the shooting. Authorities stated that Colin gave his son, who is being charged as an adult, an AR-15-style rifle used in the attack as a Christmas gift.

Although Polhamus does not excuse his grandson’s actions, he believes Colt was driven to it by his father. “He was a good kid turned bad in a bad situation. It’s sad. An environment that a kid grows up in has everything to do with their personality and what they become,” Polhamus said.

Polhamus further alleged that Colin regularly screamed at Marcee and the children. Marcee herself once described being a victim of abuse and said her kids were “thriving” after she and Colin separated last year.

According to Polhamus, Colin became addicted to opiates a few years ago after a back injury and pressured Marcee to obtain drugs for him when doctors refused to prescribe them. “Living in that environment — they lost their house, he lost his job,” Polhamus said of Colin Gray. “Two years he laid on his back and never did a thing. My daughter Marcee worked. They had a half-million-dollar farm before all this happened and they lost it.”

Marcee, who has a criminal record spanning nearly two decades, moved with her three children to Polhamus’ home. However, the children were returned to their father after she was caught with drugs. Her arrest record includes charges of drug possession, aggravated battery, theft, and criminal trespass, and she once “threatened to kill her husband” during an incident, according to the Daily Mail.

Polhamus, however, blamed Colin entirely for Colt’s downward spiral. “Colin is 100% to blame for running Colt off the rails,” he asserted, adding that Marcee has been clean for about a year and recently secured a good-paying job. He believed the damage done by her ex-husband was too significant for the children to recover from.

“Zero on Marcee. Marcee never did anything to Colt. All she did is help him out,” Polhamus insisted, rejecting reports that she abused her children. “Colt didn’t cause that to happen. He did it. He didn’t wake up one day and decide I’m going to kill [four] people. No, he didn’t do that. He came out of an environment,” the grandfather claimed.

“If you live in that kind of relationship for 11 years, you’re not going to stay stable,” Polhamus added, noting that the relationship had “absolutely” changed his daughter.

As he reflected on the tragedy, Polhamus expressed a grim outlook on the consequences. “Vengeance is mine, say the lord,” he said. “He’s getting what he deserves. My grandson is getting what he deserves, too,” he continued. “Colt has to pay for what he did, but I’m telling you, he was driven, no question in my mind. He was driven by his father to do what he did. That’s as plain as I can put it, and I know I’m right.”

When asked what he would tell Colin if he saw him today, Polhamus simply replied, “I hope you rot in hell.”
