Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team has taken swift action, filing a motion to expedite a gag order following a witness’s public statements about possessing alleged intimate videos involving the music mogul. The move comes as Combs’ attorneys express concern over potential harm to their client’s right to a fair trial and the integrity of ongoing grand jury proceedings.
In a letter addressed to the judge, lawyers Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos highlighted the urgent need to restrict extrajudicial statements by potential witnesses and their counsel. They emphasized the immediate threat posed by recent public statements related to the grand jury investigation.

/div>The attorneys specifically referenced media coverage surrounding Courtney Burgess, who testified before the Grand Jury regarding his claimed possession of Combs’ alleged intimate videos. They described Burgess’ claims as “false and outrageous,” asserting that his statements have rapidly spread through the media, creating a misleading impression about the existence of such videos and the government’s stance on these sensational claims.
Combs’ legal team is seeking a court order to restrain the speech of potential witnesses and their representatives. This request comes in response to prosecutors’ previous objection to a gag order, partly due to the involvement of plaintiffs in civil litigation against Combs, which falls outside the criminal court’s jurisdiction.
The situation escalated when Burgess appeared on NewsNation’s “Banfield,” claiming that Combs’ late ex-partner, Kim Porter, had given him 11 flash drives containing compromising videos before her death in 2018. Burgess alleged that these videos featured eight celebrities, including minors, and suggested that the individuals appeared to be under the influence and potentially victims.
This legal maneuver unfolds against the backdrop of Combs’ ongoing legal troubles. The 55-year-old rapper and music mogul was arrested in September on charges including human trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution. Combs has pleaded not guilty, with his trial scheduled to begin on May 5.

In addition to the criminal charges, Combs faces multiple lawsuits accusing him of various crimes, including sexual assault. The music mogul has consistently denied all allegations against him.
As the legal proceedings continue to unfold, the case highlights the complex interplay between public statements, media coverage, and the justice system in high-profile cases involving well-known figures in the entertainment industry.
