Whitney Cummings brought her signature wit to CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live 2023 special, delivering sharp-tongued commentary alongside hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper in Times Square.

The comedian, fresh off welcoming her first child in December 2023, took the opportunity to blend self-promotion with a pointed jab at CNN’s ratings. While discussing her expanding tour schedule and larger venues, she quipped, “I thought being a mom would mean less people want to come see me. Now I’m playing like 3,000-seat theaters, which is about the viewership of CNN these days.” She quickly followed up with a playful disclaimer: “Not this show, though! All eyes are on this show.”

The 42-year-old performer didn’t stop there, turning her attention to the political landscape and the Democratic party’s challenging year. Taking aim at the current administration’s struggles, she remarked, “The 2024 election fried our brains. The Democrats couldn’t hold a primary because they were too busy holding a body upright.”

When Cohen encouraged her to continue with an enthusiastic “Go for it,” Cummings launched into criticism of the Vice President. “It was amazing. The pro-choice party didn’t give their voters one when it came to the presidential candidate. Kamala [Harris] was forced on us so hard, you’d think she was patented by Pfizer—or Moderna… Oh God, Andy just gave me a very scary look.”

The comedian’s commentary extended beyond politics, as she proceeded to address Jennifer Lopez and made remarks about Luigi Mangione and Sean “Diddy” Combs during her guest appearance.
