CNN Analyst Says Biden Supporters Concerned

Daily Report February 10,2024

CNN political analyst Paul Begala on Friday revealed that Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on President Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified files left him with poor sleep and wetting the bed.

Hur’s report showed that the president willfully mishandled classified files. The special counsel, however, declined to charge the president, citing his failing memory.

“We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Hur wrote in the report. “Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him, he is someone for whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt. It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him-by then a former president well into his eighties-of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”

Begala, while speaking on CNN, insisted that the report was terrible news for the president’s supporters and the Democrat party. The CNN analyst revealed that the news made him lose sleep.

“Oh yeah. Look, I’m a Biden supporter, and I slept like a baby last night. I woke up every two hours crying and wet the bed,” Begala said. “This is terrible for Democrats, and anybody with a functioning brain knows that. But here’s what you do: instead of calling a press conference and saying, ‘I really am sharp,’ you attack the other guy.”

Following the release of Hur’s report, Biden held a press conference where he tried to defend his mental capabilities. The press conference, however, did more harm than good to the president as he made more gaffes. Begala, in the Friday interview, maintained that Biden should have attacked former President Donald Trump instead of trying to defend his mental capabilities.

“You know, Joe Biden gave the strategy in 2012. I remember he was vice president, and he said, ‘Don’t compare us to the Almighty, compare us to the alternative,’” Begala added. “So everything with Biden has to be not ‘I’m great,’ but, ‘The other guy’s really damaging, dangerous, a threat.’ I want to see more of Joe Biden, and the gaffes are built in. But instead of simply saying, ‘I’m okay,’ he just simply — he needs to be on the attack 24/7 for the next 269 days.”
