Taking to social media platform X, Mace shared details of the incident: “I was physically accosted at the Capitol tonight by a pro-tr*ns man. One new brace for my wrist and some ice for my arm and it’ll heal just fine. The Capitol police arrested the guy. Your tr*ns violence and threats on my life will only make me double down. FAFO,” adding a call to “Hold the Line.”

The incident occurred inside the Rayburn House Office Building, where U.S. Capitol Police responded to reports of an assault on a member of Congress shortly before 6 p.m. Law enforcement officials subsequently identified and apprehended James McIntyre, who now faces charges of assaulting a government official.

According to police statements, McIntyre had undergone standard security screening procedures before entering the Congressional building, which was open to public access at the time of the alleged assault. While Capitol Police confirmed the arrest, their official statement did not specifically name Representative Mace as the victim of the incident.
