Camping World Suddenly CRITICIZED For Flying Their Signature American Flag

Daily Report August 08,2024

A California RV dealership is refusing to comply with local officials who ordered the business this year to remove a large American flag from its property.

Camping World has flown the giant Stars and Stripes at more than 250 locations around the country with little problem — except near Stockton, where the San Joaquin County Community Development office cited safety concerns in rejecting a proposed permit for that flag.

The dealership’s huge flag, a familiar sight in the area, was ordered down back in April for safety reasons relating to how its foundation affected those of adjacent property lines and U.S. Route 16 F nearby–just in case it came toppling down.

Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis, who also appears on CNBC’s “The Profit,” caught wind of the controversy and ordered that a flag be raised at the dealership again as soon as Monday.

Lemonis, 50, told FOX40 if they felt it was making people sick or causing any air traffic issues — which would be “absolutely not OK” — he wouldn’t do it.

A permit application has been submitted by Camping World and is under review.

Lemonis said if the flagpole flew a marketing flag instead of an American one, he might keep it down until the permit was approved. Despite this, he is stubborn to get that flag flying.

“It’s symbolism about how we feel about this country. We have a lot of veterans who work for us, and a lot of veterans who shop with us,” Lemonis said.

“I happen to be an immigrant,” the Lebanon-born entrepreneur said. “I was given the blessing of being able to enter this country and become a citizen, and I’m grateful for it.

“It’s been part of my life since I was a little child down in Miami, Florida, where we had the largest flagpole in Miami at our car dealership.”

Although all other Camping World sites in the U.S. have been allowed to use large US flags, this location remains controversial with a San Joaquin County facility located here.

“Camping World’s flagpole was installed with neither a building permit nor planning approval, therefore they are in conversation with the code enforcement division,” the county told Fox 40 in a statement.
