During his recent HBO “Real Time” broadcast, Bill Maher delivered a pointed critique of the Democratic Party’s campaign strategies and messaging. He emphasized how Democrats seem disconnected from everyday voters’ experiences, suggesting they campaign as if voters don’t witness the daily reality of diverse communities in places like grocery stores, coffee shops, and workplaces.

In his opening remarks, Maher addressed the far left’s response to recent political setbacks. “Someone must tell the usual suspects on the far left that the saying is, when you’re in a hole, stop digging, not keep digging. Talk about doubling down on what got you f*cked in the first place.”

Maher highlighted findings from Democratic polling firm Blueprint, which revealed that Black voters considered the president too liberal rather than too conservative. He noted how voters wanted Vice President Harris to distance herself from what they perceived as an out-of-touch Democratic Party.

Discussing accusations of racism and sexism in election outcomes, Maher referenced historical achievements like Obama’s presidency and Hillary Clinton’s popular vote victory. He criticized Democrats’ tendency to view electoral losses primarily through identity politics lenses.

The host then addressed the party’s approach to Hispanic and Black voters, suggesting that these communities prioritize practical concerns like economic stability and public safety over ideological positioning. “The votes are in. [Hispanic people] don’t want your pity. And black people can’t afford to indulge rich, white peoples’ need to endlessly flagellate themselves.”

Maher particularly criticized what he termed the Democrats’ intellectual superiority complex, stating, “The basis for Democratic campaigns has become, we’re the smart people. That we know from the get-go. No need to look into that.” He warned against the dangers of “intellectual incest” within the party, suggesting it leads to disconnected thinking and flawed strategies.

The host concluded his monologue by recommending that Democrats should consider making excessive wokeness a cancellable offense, suggesting a need for the party to moderate its progressive messaging.
