Biden snaps at media about foreign policy experience

President Biden directed sharp criticism at the media during a White House gathering Sunday evening following the signing of the Social Security Fairness Act.

When fielding questions from attendees, the conversation initially focused on President-elect Donald Trump, with one reporter inquiring about Biden’s views on Trump’s democratic stance.

“I think what he did was a genuine threat to democracy,” Biden responded.

After addressing concerns about Trump’s reported plans regarding birthright citizenship, the president turned his attention to criticizing the journalists present.

“I might be the oldest president, but I know more world leaders than any one of you have ever met in your whole goddamn life!” Biden declared.

The statement prompted swift reactions on X from various public figures. Journalist Salena Zito responded with irony, writing “He’s fine guys,” while conservative communicator Steve Guest described Biden as “What a bitter person.”

RedState writer Bonchie offered a longer critique: “This is Washington credentialism in a nutshell. Politicians become ‘qualified’ by simply existing. It doesn’t matter that Biden is an abject failure and the worst foreign policy figure in American history. You see, he knows a lot of people, and that’s all that matters.”

CNN conservative commentator Scott Jennings added sarcastically: “The most civil, decent, and devoutly Catholic president we’ve ever had.”

This incident adds to a pattern of confrontational exchanges between Biden and the press throughout his presidency. In November, when asked about potential hostage negotiations between Hamas and Israel, Biden responded to an Israeli Channel 13 correspondent with a deflecting question: “Do you think you can keep from getting hit in the head by a — a camera behind you?”

In a notable 2022 incident, Biden called Fox News’ Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a b—-” after a question about inflation’s political impact before the midterms. Doocy later reported that Biden called to “clear the air,” explaining that the remarks were “nothing personal.”
