President Joe Biden may have handed former President Donald Trump a major political gift heading into November’s presidential election.
The Biden administration is expected to announce it will delay its final determination on whether to approve the Calcasieu Pass 2 (CP2) project. CP2 is a massive liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in Louisiana. According to the Daily Caller, the delay signifies the Biden administration is considering killing the project altogether.

President Biden has come under massive pressure from the woke environmentalist left to kill the project and other proposed LNG export terminals.

Tom Pyle, president of the American Energy Alliance, said the decision will harden support for the president among his core base. Pyle, however, noted that the decision does not help the American people.
“I guess the calculation is that it will help the greens find more of an excuse to spend even more on Biden’s reelection,” Pyle said. “Average folks see this for what it is: a shortsighted political move that helps nobody besides the hardline special interests that support him.”
Should the Biden administration decide to kill the project, it could provide the Trump campaign an avenue to hammer the current administration’s energy agenda.
Mike McKenna, a GOP strategist and former Trump administration energy adviser, described the decision as a terrible idea that plays into the hands of the Trump campaign.
“I get that they have to feed the progressives, but this looks like and is both a terrible idea and an illicit intrusion into the process of an independent regulatory agency,” McKenna said.
Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, told the Daily Caller News Foundation Trump would unleash American energy on day one of his presidency.
“Joe Biden has once again caved to the radical demands of the environmental extremists in his administration,” Leavitt said. “On day one, President Trump will unleash American Energy to lower the cost of living for all Americans, pay down debt, strengthen national security, and establish the United States as the manufacturing superpower of the world,” she continued, adding that the CP2 delay is a “disastrous self-inflicted wound that will further undermine America’s economic and national security.”
While Biden caves to the woke left on energy policies, Trump, on the other hand, has vowed to drill for oil on day one if he is elected president again.
