As Fentanyl Crisis Grows Harris Continues To Push Policies That Don’t Matter To Americans

Daily Report August 23,2024

Recovery experts and law enforcement officers from key swing states are calling upon Vice President Kamala Harris to prioritize the fentanyl crisis, as well as former President Donald Trump.

The huge rise in the power and availability of fentanyls, a class that includes hundreds of strong synthetic opioids implicated almost daily in over 300 US overdose deaths per day.

The explosion of fentanyl coming into the U.S. from China, primarily through Mexican crossing points are a particular focus for experts. The severity of the crisis was punctuated by Wednesday’s National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.

In swing states like North Carolina, Michigan, Virginia, and Arizona, more than 1,000 died in fentanyl incidents in 2023 as per CDC.

The opioid epidemic, addiction experts say, underscores the urgency for this administration to detail its plans for stemming fentanyl. One expert reacted, saying “Vice President Kamala Harris needs to provide clarity on what her administration will do to act against the flood of fentanyl coming into America.”

Washington County Sheriff Blake Andis said that the opioid influx “shot out of the roof” under Conner’s current stewardship.

“We saw the escalation of overdoses on fentanyl, methamphetamine just hitting the streets with one-eyed wondermites,” Andis told The Post.

Although CDC data from March reports falls in fentanyl-associated deaths in a few states, places like Nevada have seen huge increases year-on-year with 23.27% more fatalities.

Republicans say the open borders problem is fueling the fentanyl crisis, while Democrats’ 2024 platform boasts of more effort by the Biden administration to fight drug abuse — which would continue if he gets a second term.

DNC senior spokeswoman Hannah Muldavin said, “The platform adopted before President Biden regained front-runner status lays out a bold vision for an inclusive agenda we can rally around.”

The GOP wants to secure the border and starve fentanyl shipments by sea with a U.S. Navy blockade, per its platform suggestions. Vice President Harris has repeatedly said securing the border and following up with actions to reduce fentanyl inflow were a priority, Muldavin noted.
