Alec Baldwin Posts On Instagram After Manslaughter Charges DROPPED

Daily Report July 14,2024

This afternoon, Alec Baldwin took to Instagram for the only second time since Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed on the set of Rust.

“There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now. To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family,” the actor, 66, wrote around 12:30 p.m. alongside a photo of himself in the Santa Fe courtroom.

District Court Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the case against Baldwin on Friday, July 12, 2024.

A number of A-listers were fast to chime in with their support for the actor Don Lemon, Amy Sedaris, and Anthony Hopkins.

The prop gun discharged when Baldwin was working with it, killing 42-year-old Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza on October 21, 2021.

On Friday, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer ordered that charges related to Hutchins’ death be dropped against Baldwin after finding the prosecution failed to disclose key evidence regarding ammunition.

The court also found that the actor could not be retried in connection with Ms. Hagman’s death, putting an end to his prosecution on criminal charges.

In a press conference outside the courthouse on Saturday, powerful trial attorney Gloria Allred — who represents Hutchins’ parents and sister— reminded that Baldwin is still facing civil litigation over the tragedy.

According to CNN, Allred insisted: “We’ll fight to the end. We’re gonna fight to the end for Halyna Hutchins.”

During the sentencing of on-set armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter earlier this year, Allred also read victim impact statements from Hutchins’ grieving family.

“[Halyna’s father] said that he would like to see everyone who may be responsible for the death of Halyna have to face the consequences,” Allred told KOAT7 earlier this week, as proceedings against Baldwin got underway.

The attorney said she was also relieved that her clients did not have to watch the “gruesome” footage of moments after Hutchins shooting — as medics hurried, but were unable, save the cinematographer’s life.

An attorney for her widow, Matthew Hutchins said that the grieving husband “respects” the court’s decision but hoped Baldwin would be back in a courtroom for a civil judgment.
